Why working on yachts?

First of all this industry is a fairly unknown but incredible opportunity to save money and travel in the same time!

I know... It sounds surreal but it does exist.

With time and experience, you can design your life as you want. Some do it seasonal, some freelance and for many its an incredible career choice.

Imagine you hanging out somewhere in the Caribbean sipping on beers with amazing people who are your boat family enjoying the sunset watching dolphins jumping in the wake of the boat becomes a usual sight for you. And guess what?! This could be your after work spot for for the next few month. All while you work on a Billionaires boat saving money and get paid to travel other insane destinations.

Of course the work can also be hard. But in this industry the saying "work hard, play hard" is very much the lifestyle most of the time. You are working in the highest standard and will be maintaining, preparing for the guest to come and enjoy their boat. When they arrive you are responsible for them to have the most wonderful and relaxing time. Until they step off the boat and you back in to your sandals enjoying that yachtie life.

Who fits on board?

Most people start in their early 20's. This depends on what job you choose to do.

Deckhands and Steward/ess are usually the younger crew. If you are going for a chefs or engineering position to start, your age is irrelevant. Here is more about your experience and knowledge.

Many come after their University time in to yachting.

Yachting is full of people from countries that have English as their mother tongue. Like South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, UK etc. So if you aren't any of those you are kind of rare.

English is the language on board and all the courses, certifications and trainings will be in English. So very very very important to be fluent in English.

As long as you are open to live with not knowing where you gonna be next week and living with people from all over the world. you are pretty fitting to this industry.

Why start on yachts?

I had the time of my life traveling to places most people only can dream of and get paid and saved money to travel to even more places. Making the world my home. I know so many people who have so much potential in this industry but are scared of the step out of their "Golden cage" which made me decide to start SOY (start on yachts)

SOY is NOT a recruitment agency.

The workshops and classes that SOY offer, are to prepare you to what comes when you start yachting. Teaching you about where to go, where to start, what to expect, resume help, what to do and what not to do.

All this information that are given during these classes are information's that I wish I had before I got thrown in to the "cold water" and figured it all out by myself. Next to all this you will meet people that are planning to do the same thing.

My goal is making the transition and life changing experience as easy and least scary for you as possible. Being here for you and answering any questions you may have.
